The region around the gulf of Salamis is one of the most beautiful in Cyprus, mainly because of the ancient ruins that lie here and extend towards the sea shore. Many of the ruins are of Roman origin, but all the armies that conquered the island left their mark. Another impressive site is an amphiteatre with 15,000 seats.
